My name is Jerry. Back in the fifties when a teenager I belonged to a group that
performed Indian dances for various functions, parades etc... in rural Illinois.
The group was well established when I joined so I am not sure about it's origin.
In the summer we camped at a yearly Powwow in Tama Iowa held by a
confederation of Sauk, Fox, Winebago and other tribes whose origins were in that
area of the midwest. I believe the confederation name was Mesquaki
(spelled phoneticly, I'm hopping someone will recognize it and give me the
correct spelling). While none of us were Native American we were well received,
and our constant nagging about how to do this and that was generally tolerated.
The dances were spectacular and drew huge crowds. I didn't think there were
that many people in Iowa. (No offence to Iowa intended)
Anyway, so began my life long fascination and interest in Native American
culture, history, art and anything referred to as "the old west".

Unfortunately I could never draw my way out of a wet paper bag. Then
I discovered computer graphics and even I could draw. Of course the judge of
that will be the people who I hope will visit this site sooner or later.
(So far there has only been seven and I'm afraid six of those were myself)
Regardless, I've found myself a very enjoyable hobby.
I will continue to improve site and add new graphics.
There are so many great sites out there related to Native Americans and
The Old West.

A note about Greasy Grass title, even though most anyone familiar with Native
American history will know, other visitors to this site may not.
The Sioux refer to the area along the Little Big Horn river where The Battle Of
The Little Big Horn was fought in 1876 as The Greasy Grass, relating to the type
of grass growing there.
