The amount of salary was announced by team president Jorge Mas, his words on Sunday, July 2, reports Marca. “Under the contract, Messi will earn between 50 and 60 million dollars per season.

On June 29, it was reported that Gerardo Martino of Argentina had taken charge of Inter Miami. The 60-year-old had previously worked at Catalonia’s Barcelona and Argentina’s national team, where he coached Messi.

Messi moved to Inter Miami on June 7. The Argentine forward had been defending the colors of French Paris Saint-Germain since 2021. His contract with the Parisians was until June 2023 with the option to extend for a season.

Prior to that, the forward played for Barcelona throughout his career. With the Catalans he won the Spanish championship ten times and won the Champions League four times. The Argentine captain said he originally planned to continue his career in another place. 

“Originally the plan was different, but my family and I are happy with the decision we made. We are ready for a change, a new challenge. I think it is an important step. We understand its importance and we are happy now,” Messi said.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham shared a comment about the transition of striker Lionel Messi to his team.

“This moment came as no surprise to me. We always wanted to bring the best players to the club. The fact that Messi, who has won everything in this life, chose Inter Miami is an amazing event for us,” Goal quoted Beckham as saying.

Last season, the 36-year-old Argentine appeared on the field in 41 matches for PSG, in which he scored 21 goals and recorded 20 assists.

It also became known when Inter Miami will hold the presentation of its newcomers. According to Mundo Deportivo, the presentation will take place on July 16. The American club is going to make the most out of their star players. All tickets for the presentation are already sold out. The stadium management is working to expand the seats on the home arena.
